Hey Game With Your Brain readers,
I want to announce our new forum, which is accessible at https://discourse.gamewithyourbrain.com or by clicking "Forum" in the navigation bar right under our logo at the top of the page. Please check it out and let us know what you think under the 'Site Feedback' category. I hope that this can become a great community for everyone to connect and communicate about their favorite games and make new friends online.
I've put a ton of work into it over the past 2.5 days or so and I hope it delivers a great user experience for everyone, if there is anything we can do to make it better of course, please let us know.
- Facebook, Twitter, Google, Steam sign up and login integration.
- Toggleable digest emails
- Anti-spam filtering
- Attentive support staff (that's me)
For anyone who is interested in the technical details, the site is based on the open-source discourse platform. Discourse is built using docker containers and I have set it up running on Amazon Web Services behind an elastic load balancer and Cloudfront content distribution network with content caching in the US, Canada, and Europe, this will extend to the entire world if it picks up popularity.
In the future, I will be making a few changes to the architecture including:
- Getting it running on AWS Elastic Container Service which will allow it to scale dynamically without waiting for full VMs to spin-up.
- Adding AWS Route 53 integration to support anycast DNS and speed up domain resolution for those residing in other parts of the world.
If anyone has any ideas on other things that can be done to improve the user experience, let me know at email@example.com, I'd be happy to hear it.
As we make our way in this world as a new media company, we're going to need your help. Our readers are what make us special and are why we exist in the first place. We started this site with the vision to offer something different, a place where you can get an intelligent analysis and perspective on the games you play or the ones you're considering buying.
Going into the future, our goal is to expand on this mission by offering more content like videos, daily reviews, and cutting edge features that add value for you, the readers. As part of our gamer-centric focus, we'd like to start building and expanding our community involvement to create new, fun, and richer gaming experiences. Part of this will be through efforts like this forum and some time down the road offering community get-togethers like LAN Parties, Tournaments, and Pro-workshops where you can meet and interact with pro gamers in your area and learn from them.
If any of this sounds interesting, please let us know, we value your continued support and feedback and are always looking for ways to improve.
Thanks for reading,
Chief Editor, Game With Your Brain
